The Young Social Democrats (MSD), who cooperate with the ruling SMER-Social Democracy (SMER-SD), launched a national campaign called "Join the Second Pension Pillar, Please."
The campaign is accompanied by a billboard, where the retirement pension savings scheme is illustrated by an open sewage manhole. MSD Chairman Andrej Kolesik said that the open manhole symbolizes the very high risk connected with entry to the second (capitalization) pension pillar. "We find entry to the second pillar to come with high risk for young people, which is why we chose this form of graphic illustration," he explained. He said that the MSD does not assert that the second pillar is bad for everyone. "We launched the campaign to make young people think, ask, and seek information before they decide to join or quit the second pension pillar," said Mr. Kolesik after unveiling the billboard.
